- No, this is not true. It is 8 bit plus 6 bits for volume. The trick is to
- use two channels; one set to volume 1, the other one to volume 64. When these
- two are added (analog "adding" by the way) you theoretically get 14 bits.
- Due to nonlinearities, offsets and other stuff you don't actually get true
- 14 bit output. And the output is rather noisy as well.
